File upload info and FAQ

If you want to upload something other than a map (ex. a game or mod on which you are a member of the develpoment team) contact Joseph on GameLink.

If you would like to have a map added to the list, log in to the forums and view the main downloads page for a link.
We will look at your upload and post it on the downloads site if we approve.

Note: Please make a zip/rar file for the map/files and a seperate one for the screenshots.

For all map uploads the folder structure in the zip/rar file should be setup so all the downloader has to do is put it in the game's folder (ex. cstrike/something.zip or orangebox/garrysmod/something.rar) and extract it and everything will be in the right place.

Using cstrike as an example (your files and folders will be different, but this same type of file/folder structure still applies):

FAQ:

  • Can you give me permission to upload files directly?
    • No, our files are hosted on a remote machine which a staff member has to upload the files to.
  • The game the map I want to submit is for is not listed, can I still submit it?
    • Yes, on the upload site just select "Other" as the game and enter the game name in the "Game Type" box and if we approve the submission, we will add the game to the list.
  • Can I post more than one map at a time?
    • No, each map must be done in a seperate submission request.
  • Is there a maximum upload size?
    • Yes, currently it is set at 200MB (all files together), if you excede this limit you will be notified before the upload starts. If this happens, contact us and we can increase the limit or give you an alternative method of uploading the map.
  • Can I just give you a link to the file or a list of maps?
    • No, we require al submissions to include all files in the upload and one submission per map.
  • Can I submit a map pack?
    • No, you must make a seperate submission for each map.
  • Why don't you just put the upload link here?
    • By requiring you to register on the forums for you to see the upload link we greatly reduce the chance/number that/of spam bots will find it and post spam responses on it. In time we will put a captcha on it, but it will have to be integrated into the javascript code for the upload form.
